1000-yen buffet lunch at Nirvanam

Although there is a lot of Indian Halal restaurant in Japan and almost all of them has the same taste or menu. But still, few are serving authentic and different food. I found one in Kawagoe.


NIRVANAM is a South Indian specialty restaurant. They bring the best food from the Arabian sea coast of Kerala and Goa, the Deccan Plateau of Karnataka, to the Bay of Bengal coast of Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu, each unique in its concept of taste, flavor, the mixture of spices, and style of cooking. They have a lot of branches around Tokyo. They have been awarded as one of the best restaurants consecutively from 2009 by the leading ranking site Tabelog. They are also a HALAL CERTIFIED restaurant.


They have many branches around Tokyo. Kawagoe is one of their branches and is located very near to Kawagoe station. Just 2–3-minute walking distance from the station, it is located in a shopping mall named U-PLACE. The restaurant is pretty big, the interior is quite simple. Indian music is played inside the restaurant. This restaurant has around 55 seat capacities.
The amazing part of the restaurant is that they have a very cheap BUFFET system. All you can eat is lunch only for 1100 Yen (tax included). Dinner courses are available which start from around 3300 YEN.


The day I went to their Kawagoe branch, the food was so amazing. They had chicken Mughlai curry, salad, pickles, pasta, spaghetti, pineapple phirni, cholay, bhaturay, biryani, sambal, vada, Dahi Bhalla etc a lot more dishes. The star of the lunch was GOL GAPPAY, yes, they had gol gappay in their buffet, as many as you want to eat. The quality of food was so good, great taste, great service, and staff were so kind and friendly.


A must South Indian style budget-friendly restaurant to visit especially for their Buffet lunch. They have this Buffet system in their all-branch prices vary according to the area, some branches are just 100/200 yen up from their lunch price. A highly recommended restaurant around Tokyo.
