This New Halal Buffet Restaurant Is Going Viral in Japan — We Visited Alifa Halal Restaurant in Saitama

If you have been looking for a halal buffet experience in Japan that actually feels satisfying, flavorful, and worth the trip, Alifa Halal Restaurant in Koshigaya, Saitama might deserve a place on your list.
Recently gaining attention among Muslims and food lovers across Japan, this restaurant offers an all-you-can-eat South Asian fusion buffet packed with variety, rich homemade flavors, and enough options to keep every plate interesting. Located around 7 minutes by car from Minami-Koshigaya Station and roughly an hour from central Tokyo, Alifa has quietly become a destination where people travel specifically for the buffet experience.
After visiting ourselves, it became easy to understand why.
A Buffet That Feels Like There Is Always Something New
For only ¥2200 on weekends, the amount of food available felt surprisingly generous.
The buffet spreads across a wide selection of dishes including authentic South Asian curries, biryani, Paglao Polao, kebabs, grilled items, fried chicken, pizza, salads, snack items, desserts, refreshing drinks, and even Bangladeshi street food favorites like Chotpoti and Fuchka.
One thing that immediately stood out was that the menu changes every week. That small detail makes repeat visits feel more exciting because there is always something different waiting next time.
Another thing we appreciated was how actively the staff maintained the buffet. Even with customers constantly serving themselves, the trays rarely stayed empty for long. Food continued coming out fresh throughout the meal, which made the overall experience feel much better than a typical buffet.
The Curries Are Easily One of the Highlights
If there was one section that pulled us back for second servings, it was definitely the curries.
They had a rich homemade feeling with layered spices and comforting flavors that felt authentic rather than overly commercial. Each curry tasted distinct from the others instead of blending into one similar flavor profile.
The meats were tender and absorbed the seasoning beautifully, while the gravies were flavorful enough that we kept reaching for more rice without thinking twice.

The Biryani and Paglao Polao Deserve Their Own Mention
No South Asian buffet feels complete without good rice dishes, and Alifa delivered here too.
The biryani had fragrant rice, balanced seasoning, and portions that paired well with the curries and side dishes.
But the real surprise for us was the Paglao Polao.
It was packed generously with meat and every bite felt rich, aromatic, and satisfying. The combination of flavorful rice and tender meat made this one of the standout dishes of the visit and easily one of our personal favorites from the buffet.
More Than Just Curries
What made the buffet enjoyable was that the side dishes never felt like an afterthought.
The snack section added variety between heavier dishes and kept the meal interesting. The fried chicken was especially memorable because it arrived hot, crispy, and juicy instead of feeling like it had been sitting out.
The pizza was another pleasant surprise. Soft, fresh, and comforting, especially for families or younger visitors who might want something familiar alongside traditional South Asian food.
For Bangladeshi visitors, seeing Chotpoti and Fuchka on the buffet added something extra.
These are flavors many people living in Japan miss, and being able to enjoy them in a halal buffet setting gave the experience a nostalgic touch.
Comfortable for Families and Easy to Visit
Beyond the food itself, the restaurant space also deserves mention.
Alifa Halal Restaurant has two spacious floors with plenty of seating, making it comfortable for families, groups, and weekend visitors. Even with a steady flow of customers, the restaurant never felt crowded during our visit.
There is also a dedicated prayer space on the second floor, which makes it easier for Muslim guests to plan their visit comfortably.
For visitors driving in, the restaurant also offers a large parking area, making it convenient even for guests coming from outside Saitama.

More Than a Buffet
Alifa is not limited to dine-in service.
The restaurant also offers catering services, food truck operations, takeout, and delivery options for customers who want to enjoy their food beyond the restaurant.
Whether it is for an event, gathering, or simply bringing halal food home, there are multiple ways to enjoy what they offer.
Final Thoughts
By the end of the meal, we found ourselves going back for refills more times than expected.
From rich curries and flavorful biryani to the standout Paglao Polao, nostalgic Bangladeshi snacks, fresh fried chicken, and refreshing drinks, the overall experience felt complete.
Combined with spacious seating, a prayer space, large parking, and attentive buffet service, it is easy to see why people are making the trip to visit.
If you are in Saitama or searching for your next halal food destination near Tokyo, Alifa Halal Restaurant is definitely worth adding to your list.
